In the world of mental health, every patient arrives with a unique set of gifts and challenges. At Collaborative Minds, our goal is to provide the kind of care that both recognizes your gifts and respects your challenges as you travel down the road to wellness.
A common misconception is that psychiatry and psychology are interchangeable, but this misconception hides an important distinction. True, both fields of study treat conditions in the brain and mind, but psychiatry, unlike psychology, is a medical discipline, requiring medical degrees of its practitioners and focusing on rigorous scientific treatments for its conditions.
Our goal is to provide the kind of care that both recognizes your gifts and respects your challenges as you travel down the road to wellness.
At Collaborative Minds, we serve our patients using the best in modern medical practice, including a combination of psychiatric medications, neural stimulation, and cognitive therapies. For you to achieve the wellness you seek, we work together as a team, with our doctors giving you a comprehensive game plan so that you know what to expect.
Collaborative Minds Specializes in the Following Areas:
We also emphasize patient education, teaching you about the way your medication works so that you have a clear understanding of the way that it acts on your brain
We also emphasize patient education, teaching you about the way your medication works so that you have a clear understanding of the way that it acts on your brain (and, subsequently, mind and body). Psychiatric medications do not act in the same way as other medications, and most patients experience results only after several weeks of treatment. Because of this different timescale, we monitor your progress closely, particularly in that first 6-8 week window of exposure to the medication.
While every case is different, in general, patients can expect regular follow-up appointments during that time to monitor their medication, and to determine whether any adjustments are necessary. As a medical clinic—not a therapist’s couch—we evaluate for your specific conditions, and continue our diagnostic process throughout the lifespan of your care.
Genetic Testing is a medical test that identifies changes in chromosomes, genes, or proteins.
This test can cost upwards of $1,000. At Collaborative Minds, the cost is only $300 and you do not have to be a patient. The test is a simple swab of the inside of your mouth. Once we have the results, you are given a 18-20 page report detailing what medications your body will respond to. For more information or to schedule your genetic test, call 225-456-2884.
